Dr. Ryan's Mailbag: How Do You Make Dark Spots Disappear? Plus More...

Hello, and happy Friday! It’s Dr. Ryan Shelton again, and I’m here to unravel the secrets to radiant and age-defying skin with answers to your pressing questions. Today, we'll be addressing two inquiries from customers looking for a helping hand with their skincare routines. Our first question comes from Kimberly in Cleveland, OH.

Q: Hi Dr. Ryan! I’m starting to see some dark spots forming in my cheek area. What’s the best way to make them go away?

A: Hi Kimberly! Age spots and hyperpigmentation are common concerns, and just to warn you, they can be pretty stubborn when it comes to getting rid of them. But fear not – there's a roadmap to a more even skin tone. Let's dive into the details!

Dark spots can be a result of many things, like sun exposure or even genetics. No matter the cause, your best bet at getting rid of them is to start using antioxidants.

Antioxidants like vitamin C can work wonders when you add it to your routine!

Vitamin C is a powerhouse antioxidant known for its brightening properties and can help create a brighter, more even skin tone.

My Dark Spot Corrector has Vitamin C in it to help target those dark areas and help lighten them so they’re not as visible!

No matter which product you go for, make sure it has antioxidants like Vitamin C.

Additionally, regular exfoliation is key. Opt for products containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) to encourage cell turnover, gradually fading those pesky age spots.

My Lavender Oil Cleanser contains these exfoliants, and it helps to gently slough off dead skin to reveal the clean and clear complexion beneath!

Speaking of cell turnover, another good option is Retinol.

This ingredient helps to speed up cell renewal and helps your body replace old, dead skin cells faster than usual.

This could help brighten your dark spots too, so try adding a retinol product to your routine!

Remember, Kimberly - patience is important, but so is consistency. If you really want to get rid of those Dark spots, you’ll need to be persistent!

Good luck!

My Next question comes from Gemima in New York, NY.

Q: Hi Dr. Ryan. Are there specific eye creams that target crow's feet and under-eye wrinkles?

wrinkles under eyes

A: Hello, Gemima! Crow's feet and under-eye wrinkles are common concerns, especially if you’re someone who smiles a lot, like me! Let's explore a tailored approach to address these delicate areas and help you get your eye area looking its best…

After a certain age, you start to notice that certain facial expressions can leave a lasting mark on your skin in the form of wrinkles.

While facial expressions add life and character to each one of us, they can also make us look a little older down the line!

But you shouldn’t have to stop smiling just because you’re worried about crow’s feet or laugh lines…

That’s where powerful, smoothing ingredients come in!

If you’re struggling with crow’s feet and under-eye wrinkles, a great ingredient for you to try is Dragon Fruit Extract.

This ingredient contains a whole lot of Vitamin C, which can help reduce wrinkles and protect your skin against premature aging that can be caused by free radicals.

Not only that, but it can also help boost blood flow, which helps brighten the skin and give you that bright-eyed look!

Dragon Fruit Extract is a key ingredient in my Eye Recovery Serum, and I think you’d love the results that this hydrating, strengthening serum will create!

Not to mention, it’s important to use products that are gentle around the delicate eye area, and I find eye serums to be more gentle than eye creams as they don’t require as much touching and pulling at the eye area to help the ingredients absorb.

Another ingredient in my Eye Recovery Serum that can help you banish those wrinkles is Niacinamide.

This is one of my favorite ingredients of all time because of how much good it can do for the skin!

It can help keep the skin hydrated, which will help plump wrinkles and prevent fine lines from showing up.

In general, when you’re struggling with wrinkles it’s best to turn to ingredients.

I have no doubt that, if you try out these ingredients, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the results!

Keep me updated on how it goes, Gemima!
