Dr. Ryan's Mailbag: How Do I Make The Most Of My Beauty Sleep? Plus More...

Hey there, and welcome to the first Mailbag Friday of the year! I'm Dr. Ryan Shelton. If you're new here, no worries - every Friday, I answer a couple of questions from customers looking for advice on creating a more youthful appearance. It's all about boosting confidence and helping you feel comfortable and beautiful in your own skin! My first question comes from Dana in Georgetown, TX.

Q: Hi Dr. Ryan. I haven't been sleeping well recently and my skin is starting to show it. Are there nighttime skincare ingredients that you would recommend?

A: Hi Dana! Firstly, kudos for seeking solutions to revitalize your skin after a bout of sleepless nights. Let's talk about some nighttime skincare ingredients that can work wonders for skin rejuvenation…

First up is Retinol. Consider this your skin's bedtime superhero. Retinol, when used at night, stimulates cell turnover and promotes collagen production.

It's fantastic for smoothing out fine lines, reducing dark spots, and giving your skin an overall youthful boost.

I now have two Retinol products in my store - The Retinol Defense Cream and The Retinol PM Booster - which will help you create a more vibrant complexion to wake up to!

Next, I want to talk about a product that I think can solve your problem as quickly as possible…

My Peptide PM Shield!

This product has been getting incredible reviews from my customers ever since it hit the shelves, and that’s thanks to some powerful ingredients.

The first ingredient is Matrixyl 3000. This powerhouse peptide is renowned for its ability to stimulate collagen production, helping you wake up to a more firm and plump complexion.

Next is Sodium Hyaluronate, the hydration champion. It's a form of hyaluronic acid that locks in moisture, ensuring your skin stays plump and hydrated.

That means you’ll wake up to a more glowing, radiant complexion!

Packed with nutrients, algae extract is another ingredient in the Peptide PM Shield that helps nourish the skin, contributing to a healthier and more vibrant complexion.

And finally, Ginkgo Biloba.

Known for its antioxidant properties, ginkgo biloba can help protect your skin from environmental stressors while promoting overall skin health.

All these ingredients help to promote a healthier complexion, and most customers say that they noticed a difference after just one night!

I’m really proud of The Peptide PM Shield because of what it’s done to help so many of my South Beach Skin Lab Family, and I have no doubt you’ll fall in love with it as they did!

I hope you get some rest soon, Dana, but until then, I’m sure these recommendations will help you feel more confident.

My next question comes from Greta in Commerce City, CO.

Q: Hi Dr. Shelton! I’m 60 this year but I’ve recently been experiencing breakouts and pimples! What Can I do to help clear my skin?

breakouts on chin

A: Hi Greta! I’m sorry to hear about your breakouts. I’m sure they can be quite irritating and maybe even make you a little self-conscious, but the truth is that none of us are immune to breakouts - no matter what age we are! Luckily, I have some great tips for you today…

Breakouts can be caused by a number of different things.

They can be a result of hormones, dirt and impurities, or even a new product that your skin isn’t compatible with.

No matter the cause, there’s one thing that you want to make 100% sure of - that you keep your skin as clean as possible.

Keeping your skin clean will help prevent the germs from spreading over your skin and creating more blemishes.

On top of that, it’ll help keep your existing spots clean, which will make them more likely to heal a whole lot faster!

Using a cleanser with antibacterial ingredients is a great way to neutralize those germs and get your skin back to its clean and healthy state.

Some antibacterial ingredients that I turn to are Lavender oil and Tea tree oil - both of which are in my Lavender Oil Cleanser.

Not only do these ingredients have anti-aging properties, but they help keep the skin clean and free from harmful bacteria. By using them, you’ll help your breakouts disappear faster!

Next, I highly recommend using Retinol.

One of the best ways to get rid of breakouts and prevent future ones from happening is to exfoliate the skin effectively.

Retinol does this on a deeper level and it helps your body replace old, dead skin cells faster than usual.

Not only will this have a huge impact on your breakouts, but it will also help create a more youthful and radiant complexion!

I highly recommend the Retinol PM Booster from my line, which is a serum that soaks into the skin quickly and efficiently to help target any problem areas you have.

If you prefer a moisturizer, I also have a Retinol Defense Cream that has a similar effect, just in a cream form!

With these two tips, I’m sure you’ll help to clear up your skin and get rid of any signs of aging you may have at the same time!

I hope this helps!
