Dr. Ryan's Mailbag: What's The Best Way To Firm Sagging Skin? Plus More...

Hello and welcome to another Friday Mailbag! My name is Dr. Ryan Shelton, and if it’s your first time here, each Friday I answer two questions from customers who write to me and ask me skincare-related questions. Let’s get into it! Our first question this Friday comes from Lisa in Los Angeles, CA.

Q: Hi Dr. Ryan! I've noticed that my skin has started to sag around my jawline and neck area. It's making me look older than I feel. What can I do to help make it look better?

sagging skin around neck

A: Hi Lisa! Sagging skin is a common concern as we age, and it can definitely make you feel quite insecure - no one wants to look older than they feel! Fortunately, there are several options that can help tighten and firm up sagging skin. Let me tell you more…

The reason your skin is starting to sag is because of a loss of collagen.

Collagen is a protein that provides structure and elasticity to the skin, and its production decreases with age, leading to sagging skin.

So, your first plan of attack should be to find ingredients that help your body produce more collagen!

Look for products that contain peptides, which have been shown to stimulate collagen production and improve skin firmness.

My Neck Firming Cream contains a blend of peptides, specifically formulated for the neck area, and can help to tighten sagging skin and improve its overall appearance.

In addition to using something like my Neck Firming Cream, facial exercises and massages can also help improve muscle tone and circulation in the jawline and neck area.

But, just like any skincare routine, you’ll have to really stick to these exercises if you want to see some results!

I hope these tips help you address your concerns about sagging skin, Lisa.

Let me know what you think of the Neck Firming Cream!

Our next question comes from Michael in New York, NY.

Q: Hi Dr. Ryan. I have dark spots on my face from acne breakouts when I was younger, and they are really bothering me. What can I do to lighten or get rid of these dark spots?

 acne scars

A: Hi Michael! Dark spots, also known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, can be a common aftermath of acne breakouts. As if having acne when you’re younger isn't enough, these scars can stick around for years to come. Luckily, there are several ways to lighten or even eliminate these dark spots.

One of the most important steps is to protect your skin from further sun damage.

UV rays from the sun can worsen dark spots and make them more obvious, so make sure to wear SPF every day, even on cloudy days or during the winter months.

In addition to sun protection, there are skincare products available that contain ingredients known for their skin-lightening properties.

Products that contain ingredients like Vitamin C and Niacinamide are a great solution as both of these ingredients help to lighten dark spots and create a more even complexion.

My Dark Spot Corrector is specifically formulated with these ingredients to target dark spots and improve their appearance over time, so it would be a great solution for you!

Having said that, it's important to be consistent with the use of these types of products, because using them once in a while won’t do much.

You’ll need to keep it up for at least 30 days if you truly want to see a change in your complexion.

So remember to be patient and consistent with your skincare routine, as it can take time to see results, and try not to get discouraged if you don’t see any changes right away!

I hope these tips help you on your journey to lighten your dark spots, Michael!
